Teenage pregnancy and physically abused.

Teenage pregnancies carry extra health risks to the mother and the baby. Often, teenagers don't receive timely prenatal care, and they have a higher risk for pregnancy-related high blood pressure and its complications. Risks for the baby include premature birth and a low birth-weight.

Taking close look on your child:

When your child grows, discuss about relationships. Keep books around that explain sex, relationships, and babies. Make sure your young teen receives comprehensive sexuality education. Do not assume they have accurate information. Ask questions. Make sure they understand your values, and also how to be safe if they choose to become sexually active and also make sure your child has accurate information about his or her body and the changes they are going through. Take a class together, continue to read books, and provide a support network for yourself and your child of adults willing to discuss the topic of sexuality openly and honestly. Love your child unconditionally, but do not be afraid to set limits. Keep communication open, working to understand rather than react. Doing all these things does not guarantee your teen will remain childless, however, they will stack the odds in your favor.

Physical abuse accounts for a majority of the pregnancy complications. This abuse is prevalent among pregnant women irrespective of age, educational status, socioeconomic or cultural background. Most of these cases go unnoticed due to the practice of accompanying a pregnant woman during her visit to the antenatal clinic, the lack of proper knowledge about available help or feeling of shame or fright.

Communicating about sex is an ongoing conversation throughout adolescence. Try not to corner your child with one-sided questions, but make it a two-way conversation. Correct any misconceptions that she may have sensitively without ridiculing. Discuss the effects of unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Be specific while talking about contraception and disease prevention. Asking a hormonally charged teenager not to have sex does not help. Be realistic and discuss everything from being ready emotionally to using effective contraception. Play an active role in knowing your teenage son's friends and girlfriends. Encourage your teenagers in healthy practices like reading and sports. Reward their achievements and help them plan a smart future with meaningful goals.

Smoking doesn't stop here with its side-effects. For women, smoking also increases the risk of strokes and heart diseases. And to add fuel to the fire, chances for heart related diseases gets ten-fold if they are taking birth-control pills side by side

STRESS IS NOT JUST FOR ADULTS

Stress is not just for adults. Stress is a feeling that is created when we react to particular events. Stress is what you feel when you are worried or uncomfortable about something. Stress is defined as an organism's total response to environmental demands or pressures. Stress is common to everyone. Not to say all stress is bad. Some stress is normal and feeling of stress is normal. Stress is what you feel when you have to handle more than you are used to. Stress is a mental or an emotional condition that occurs in response to external influences. To handle stress one should try to find out how and recognize the causes of stress and explore practical tips on stress relief and stress management.

Stress is a person's physical and emotional response to change. Not all stress is detrimental. Stress is any change in your normal routine or health. Stress is the body's reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. Stress is a physical and psychological reaction to issues and events emanating from one's environment.

Stress is part of being alive. In today's society stress is more prevalent than ever. Stress is with us all the time. Ideally a person can spot what the cause of their stress is from. Stress is a sign that we need to look more closely at our lives. Stress is the result of life changes. Stress is pressure from external circumstances that can cause internal tensions. Stress is the body's response to a threatening condition. There's a lot of confusion about exactly what stress is, and how it differs from anxiety. There are different types of stress and not everyone reacts to stress in the same way. Most stress is caused by your perception of the situation, not the situation itself.

Stress is a state that is experienced by an individual. Stress is an unavoidable part of life. Among the many physiological functions adversely affected by stress is our breathing. Probably the most crucial aspect of managing stress is to not be surprised when it happens.

All stress is not bad. A little stress is useful. The outcomes of stress in one depend upon how you handle it. Stress is caused by anything that stimulates our attention and is important to us. A degree of stress is necessary for us to feel motivated and enthusiastic. Stress is a normal part of life. Remember, not all stress is bad.

SOLVING YOUR PROBLEMS CAN BE CHALLENGING & FUN

You're reading the words of a person who has been through more catastrophes in her lifetime than most people experience in 5! This is not to say that there are other people who have lived through bad times also, but everyone should learn the benefits of problems!

Problems help you to find and follow alternate methods, which may lead you to bigger and better things. If the typewriter ribbon breaks in the middle of a report that's due in 30 minutes, the boss may understand the situation is not your fault and grant you extra time to complete it. This extra time may be what you need to take off the pressure and help you relax to do a better job.
Problems are also the first step in a new invention. Dr. Scholl's foot medications would not be around if people had not had problems with corns, calluses and other ailments. We wouldn't have automobiles today if people had not had problems getting from place to place quickly. Every single invention was created because people had problems with something, so problems can really be motivational!

Problems also help you to meet new friends. If you are recently divorced, you may join a group and meet some wonderful friends that will bring you into a better life than the life you were living previously. If you have a problem getting back and forth to work, you may decide to join a carpool and save money while meeting others.

Problems also are always a learning experience. You don't actually realize that fire burns until you get burned with it! Unless a problem occurs, you do not learn why something happens the way it does. You cannot change your viewpoints and opinions unless you experience problems first hand.

Problems also cause you to become active in helping others. The organization M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) would have never been born if the founder didn't lose her daughter in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. That one death has literally changed all the drunk driving laws throughout The United States and saved millions lives!

Without problems, we couldn't solve a lot of future turmoil’s and save people A lot of money in business. Any company that introduces a new product will hire people to try it out before it is introduced to the market. These people report the problems they find and the company refines it until it's right. Without problems developing early in these tests, the company could never improve and fine tune their product to perfection. Problems and mistakes are also a blessing in disguise. Notes would never have been made possible unless the guy at the factory didn't mess up mixing the glue recipe. Sure, this is an isolated incident, but it shows just how important mistakes and problems can be.

However, most people have some perceived notion that making a mistake or having a problem is "bad." Instead of looking for ways to solve the problem, they try and live with it, cover it up and conform their life to accept it.

This is silly! There is no problem that can't be solved. There is a solution to every single problem you can think of. The solution may not always be what you want it to be but it's a solution just the same. And covering it up is like putting a piece of foil over a piece of spoiled meat and expecting it not to draw maggots. You have to dispose of the entire thing before you are finally rid of the problem. Attack the core of the problem! Dig until you uncover it! Face facts! Admit you have problems! Stop trying to make people think you are problem-free. It's unnatural! Where the recognition comes in from people you are trying to impress is when you solve problems by facing them and inventing a solution.

So, next time you have a problem, look at it logically and with enthusiasm. That may sound a little strange but most problems can be dealt with this way. Love the fact that you have problems because they will give you something to work on and solve. They also will give you a way to invent new ways of doing something new ways that will save you time and make you happier with your life. And when you solve problems, you not only gain experience in solving other problems as they occur, but you build respect for yourself. Then you can have the admiration of all those people you originally started out trying to impress and gain recognition from if you still care about having it.

You also will find that when you look at problems with a positive mind, you will accomplish more, relieve stress and combat fear which is the worst enemy and destroyer of all!

THE EFFECTS OF NICOTINE

Even if you only smoke a few cigarettes a day, why do you feel so bad when you try to quit? Nicotine creates a biochemical reaction in your body that has an immediate effect on your mood, your ability to reason, and your metabolism. The more that you smoke, the higher level of chemical dependency will be reached. Light smokers can also become just as dependent on cigarettes because of nicotine's psychological impact. In this way it can affect moods and feelings in certain situations.

It is only a matter of seconds after that first puff that nicotine starts to have an effect on your central nervous system, and the rest of your body. Certain areas of the brain, when stimulated by nicotine, help you think more clearly. Other areas of the brain lie in a pleasure center which when stimulated, can make you feel more relaxed and less anxious.

Nicotine also affects the hormones produced by the body, which creates a chemical dependency to nicotine and the accompanying craving. Heavy smokers have become dependent on heightened levels of hormones, stimulated by nicotine, which can have an addictive quality. They need a cigarette at certain intervals of time. After the stimulation of the hormones starts to fall, they need another cigarette to bring them back into the comfort zone. If they do not get that cigarette, the craving begins.

LEARNING HOW TO MEDITATE

Learning to meditate can be fun and exciting, but you must keep these three important factors in mind at all times:

(1) POSTURE - the important thing is to keep your spine straight because this positions your nerves just right and helps keep you alert.

(2) BREATH - after you have relaxed your body, you want your breathing to be slow, even and diaphragmatic. By controlling the breath, you directly influence the autonomic processes in your body, like immunity, circulation and digestion. Breathing is the one body function that is both voluntary and automatic.

(3) ATTITUDE - Try to have a relaxed, confident attitude before you start to meditate. Don't worry about "doing it exactly as outlined". Just do your best and with time you will discover the method that is "perfect for you".

As a beginner, you will notice that your thoughts keep wondering in one direction, then another. Keep returning your attention, as best as you can, to the objective of your meditation.
